January

We can call this the baseline. This is the time most everyone has resolved to eat healthy and exercise for the New Year.

2

February

While healthy eating stays steady during February, this is the month most American's quit exercising. A recent nationwide study by a major gym chain suggests most people quit going to the gym by February 18. This was based on an analysis of gym memberships and check-ins for nearly 3 million Americans.

March

Diet is more important than exercise. "You can't outrun a bad diet," says Shane Allen, Certified Weight Management Specialist , Sports Nutritionist and Personal Trainer for PersonalTrainerFood.com says.

March sees a slight uptick in healthy eating, compared to January and February.

4

April

April's healthy eating statistics fall down just a tad to February numbers. Four months in, and still going strong!

5

May

Did you guess May? This is the month 59% of Americans forego healthy eating. It's a sharp dive compared to the number of people who are watching what they eat in January, February, March and April.

It is National Hamburger Month, however. Maybe burgers are too tempting? (HINT: Try them without the bun.)

6

June

While we see the "diet dive" start in May, healthy eating falls to its lowest in June.

7

July

Numbers inch up, but still lower than May's stats. This is when people start to realize their body doesn't look the same now that they're not watching their diet.

8

August

It's that last push for that summer swimsuit body!

9

September

Surprisingly, there's not much of a difference between August and September. This is the last month of wedding season. Maybe this is the push to stay slim for your dress?

10

October

We have no idea why, but we see a spike in October. It's the highest rate of healthy eating from May to December.

"My guess?" Shane Allen, Certified Weight Management Specialist , Sports Nutritionist and Personal Trainer for PersonalTrainerFood.com suggests. "People know holiday dinners are coming up in November and December. They're trying to make up for that in October."

11

November

A dip to numbers near where they were in May. Can you say Thanksgiving?

12

December

December is crickets for healthy eating until the week leading up to New Years. Believe it or not, a lot of people get a head start on their resolution to watch what they eat.

"But I say, 'Why stop in the first place'?" - Shane Allen, Certified Weight Management Specialist , Sports Nutritionist and Personal Trainer for PersonalTrainerFood.com.
